As a result of a bureaucratic mistake, a married man with grown-up children is forced to do national service. In the barracks he strikes up a friendship with a merry fellow who falls in love with one of the man’s daughters. The man does not believe in the sincerity of the youngster’s feelings and succeeds in having him transferred to Sardinia. But the youngster succeeds in getting the girl to follow him there.
