Garibaldi and his soldiers land in Sicily and Countess Adele Saliceti returns to her town in Calabria. There she meets her former lover who lives with his little daughter, Emma. Adele would like to win back her lover. Among Garibaldi’s soldiers there is a certain Corrado, who is Emma’s real father. But he does not reveal his identity to his daughter and dies in battle.
